About Cosmos UI

Since World of Warcraft Beta, Cosmos has been a collection of AddOns utilizing centralized function libraries and an easy to use configuration interface to limit the need for using slash commands to configure your AddOns. Many of the AddOns contained within the Cosmos compilation make use of the Khaos configuration menu or other graphical interface which control every aspect of configuring your AddOns. Khaos can also load and unload any AddOn which has been installed whether they make use of the Khaos menu system or not. Most of the Cosmos Addons enhance the functionality of your game interface, very few addons change the look of your interface.

The Cosmos compilation contains many AddOns which are constantly under development, you can view and help contribute information about many of the AddOns at WoWWiki.com.

i.e. the small square Item ICONS - and NOT the long main AH button with the item price, etc.

Addon zips now include embedded dependancies

That's right, the addon download page now offers all our addons prepackaged with embeddable dependancies.

The packager makes use of the X-embeds toc line and puts those libs in the Libs folder inside the addon folder. It should also remove the embedded libs from the RequiredDeps/Dependancies line in the toc.

Currently this only applies to a handful of addons that utilize X-embeds: ChatEdit, MobileMinimapButtons, Sea, Telepathy, UnitFrameBuffs, and UnitFrameTweaks. Hopefully we will expand this list as time goes on.

Also note that the zip folder paths no longer include Interface/AddOns so make sure you unzip them into your Interface/AddOns folder instead of the root WoW folder. (Some unzipping utilities were replacing the Interface folder with this method)

Cosmos IRC moves to FreeNode

Our chat channel has been a bit barren as of late. So in an attempt to offer better support and strengthen the community we will be moving over to #WoWUIDev on irc.freenode.net which was started by the WoWInterface crew. FreeNode also hosts the ace, norganna addons and wowwiki chat channels. So it's one big happy family!

Join us on your own IRC client or using our java client.

Cosmos and WoW 2.4

Almost all of the Cosmos addons now work in 2.4 with two significant exceptions. Archaeologist and DamageMeters are being removed from Cosmos.

Archaeologist is in the process of being replaced by new addons: UnitFrameBuffs, Tweaks, and Texts. UnitFrameBuffs and UnitFrameTweaks are currently in the complete distro. Their options are in with the new blizzard ui options panel rather than Khaos.

DamageMeters needs significant changes in order to be compatible with 2.4 and needs a maintainer.

Cosmos for WoW 2.3

Cosmos has been updated for World of Warcraft 2.3. The files are available by Patcher and by manual download of the distros or individual addons.

Some AddOns have been intentionally left "Out of Date" or "Incompatible" until they can be reviewed further. See the AddOns page for which are Out of Date.

Note: SocialMods is being replaced by NotesUNeed.

Testserver Distro and 2.3 on Live

WoW 2.3 will be going live next week (Nov 13).

Until then, the Cosmos Test Server Distro still needs testing on the PTR. You can grab it from the distros list on the download page or the patcher.
AFAIK the only outstanding bug is with CharacterProfiler, which still hasn't been updated for 2.3 at http://www.rpgoutfitter.com/

There have been a lot of changes to the PTR in the past month. Pallies got a 30% ret threat redux. Season 3 ret gear got resilience and had spell damage removed. Human and Orc racials were changed from skill to crit and now to expertise.

Also of note: Season 3 will not be simultaneous with 2.3 but will instead start the week after, on Nov 20. So you have a bit longer to save up arena and honor.

Public Test Realm goes up today at 6pm.

Looks like some awesome ret pally buffs, a prot pally stam increase, a warlock nurf and a +dmg buff for healers... among other things. There are also a lot of little fixes to content that make them more enjoyable, like making BEM rays easier to capture with a 2h.

There are some UI changes but nothing major; we should have everything (that has a maintainer) updated in time for it to go live as usual.

Cosmos has been updated for World of Warcraft 2.2. The files are immediately available by Patcher and by manual download of the distros or individual addons.

PopBar has keybinding issues and is lacking a maintainer. See this thread.
DurabilityStatus percentage not updating accurately. See this thread.

Some AddOns have been intentionally left "Out of Date" or "Incompatible" until they can be reviewed further. See the AddOns page for which are Out of Date.

Addon Suggestions/Recruitment

Authors, Come One Come All!

We are looking for new Cosmos Team members. We need people who have written addons that would like to join the team, add their addons to the Complete distro, maintain and support their addons here on the site.

Addons we are looking for:

Popular addons (if you've put your addon on curse and it only has 5 downloads it's fuctionality is probably too niche)
Addons that utilize current Cosmos libraries, use no libraries or use libraries by authors who are also willing to join (we try to only distribute addons maintained by Cosmos Team Members)
Authors that are willing to continuously support their product through it's life cycle and acknowledge that software is never 'finnished'.
Addons that either use Khaos, have their own GUI for configuration and some easy way to open it (e.g. a FeatureFrame button), or the author is willing to impliment one of the above (slash commands are not enough)

We will be considering nominations of all kinds. If you aren't the author you can still suggest an addon, but please link to where the addon is downloadable and attempt to contact the author and tell them that you have nominated them and link this thread. Please do not nomiminate addons that have already been nominated, unless you are the author accepting the nomination.

5000 Revisions

We at Cosmos are proud to celebrate our 5000th svn revision since the release of WoW. (Tho there was a previous beta repository before November 2004)

Over 18,000 forum users
Over 110 addons (74 currently in the Complete Distro)
Over 2.1 million Cosmos Patcher downloads (from cosmosui.org)
Over 3.3 million distro zip downloads (of the 11 historical distros since download records started in March 2005)

I'd like to say thank you to all those who have contributed and to all of you faithful users. Without you there is no Cosmos!

Cosmos has been updated for World of Warcraft 2.1. The files are immediately available by Patcher and by manual download of the distros or individual addons.

Some basic AddOn notes:

MobileFrames has been replaced by FluidFrames.
StupidMount has been replaced by Blizzard options.
Some functionality of QuickLoot has been replaced by Blizzard options.

Patcher Notes:

Recently the distros were renamed and you may have to reselect your desired distro in the Patcher configuration.

Some AddOns have been intentionally left "Out of Date" or "Incompatible" until they can be reviewed further. See the AddOns page for which are Out of Date.

BarOptions and BuffOptions have been set to Incompatible. They are known to be broken, more reports do not need to be posted about them.
